Subject:World AIDS Day
Time:7:54 am.
I forgot to post here that yesterday was World AIDS Day. AIDS is still a global epidemic with no cure and that it effects not only the lives of victims, entire communities. My uncle is HIV positive. The health care reform bill in congress does take individuals living with AIDS into consideration and will make it easier for them to receive treatment. Please support it!

For more information on how the healthcare reform bill helps fight AIDS, please visit Project Inform: Health Care Reform.

Ever dislike someone you have a bad history with so much that if you so much as see someone with the first name online, on t.v., or in the paper, you flinch and feel weird for a moment or two?

Just had that happen.

Time:7:32 am.
I've been having consistant nausea in the mornings and dehydration, despite the fact that my initial anxiety towards school has settled, although I have had it occasionally before that. I can't eat in the mornings before I go to class, which is annoying because then I have to run back to eat instead of sticking around to do work for my night class. I looked up the side effects of my medications and am going to try not taking one of them for a few days since the side effects have listed dehydration and loss of appetite which I have also been experiencing. That one is only for hormone regulation so it is the less important one and I don't think it is the most important one. I will not regret being off it if that's what I have to do to get back to normal. Let's hope it works. Its at the point that if I get sick one more time, I'm going to cry.

Also, I share my space in the studios with a skeleton, a real one. I have no idea why he is there but I imagine my friend who previously occupied the space borrowed him from the department or he is normally stored there. I don't have a clue. Pics to come.

Subject:FUCK GEORGE CLOONEY!
Time:12:02 am.
Music:I Kissed a Girl (and I Liked It!)- Katy Perry.
Standing on Ceremony was great! Saw it with [info]ontd_startrek GQMFs. Met Zachary Quinto, Peter Paige, and talked swing with Clark Gregg (mentioned Atomic Ballroom too)! Zach was very courteous, patient and sweet (there were many people in our group). I may sound fangirlly but he has such a great smile. I got two half hugs, a group picture, a single picture, and an autograph. Pics to come! I actually didn't freeze up and said more than two sentences to him! I also made eye contact when he asked me my name for the autograph. :)

Omg, so happy but I am REALLY behind on school work. Looks like I'm in for an all nighter tomorrow. School has been kicking my ass.

Thanks, [info]ihateclooney (HAHA Quinto said "FUCK GEORGE CLOONEY!" when one of the gals said his autograph was replacing the one she had from George- Birth of a new meme, right?!) for giving me a ride, showing me about town, seeing IMAX Star Trek with me, and going to Intelligentsia for coffee. I forgot to give you gas money when you dropped me off. I'll have to give it next time!

All you GQMFs rock. Thanks [info]oshunanat for organizing this. Thanks, Carrie! Also, thanks to everyone for putting up with my mania which kicked in after dinner. I kept doing Charleston. In front of celebs. OMG <.<

Gonna pass out now! I'm getting up at 5 to do school work!

Mood: accomplished.
Music:I Wanna Be Sedated (Ramones).
Done with Medea sketches. I chose to paint her with her slain children like a Pieta or Madonna on the Rocks image. I feel it does her heroism justice. I'm really pleased how they came out though I'll probably have to do more. She will be dressed as a 1950's housewife and it'll be on the beach. I don't know if I should have storm clouds or clear skies.

Tomorrow I will do some Medusa studies. But for now, sleep!

Time:9:25 am.
I'm freaking out over the fact school is starting in a week. Like really freaking out. I don't think I did enough art so I'm going to try to be super productive this week. I mean, I'm a senior and we aren't required to do anything over summer technically, but it's highly encouraged that we do art. I'm petrified of getting scolded by my teachers when I go back to school. Absolutely petrified. Though I know its irrational. Granted, I have probably done more over the summer than I have in past years - two dinky paintings and a few sketches in a smaller sketch book.

Also, borderline manic and not doing to well today. WTF brain? I'm worried that I am triggering it. But if that gets me productive and out of my depression slump, that might be a good thing. In fact, I've almost been crying all morning.

I don't know how many art majors I have on my f-list, but I really could use a pep talk right now. Or kittens. Lots and lots of kittens.

Time:12:43 am.
Mood: bouncy.
Music:Shake the Disease (Depeche Mode).
Depeche Mode was FUCKING AMAZING live! If you get the chance, go see them! I had the BEST TIME EVER!

Here's the set list (which was easy to hunt down on Twitter thankfully-- my mind was so blown I could only remember 2/3's of it):

In Chains, Wrong, Hole to Feed, Walking in My Shoes, Precious, Fly On The Windscreen, Jezebel, Home, Come Back, Policy of Truth, In your Room, I Feel You, Somebody, Stripped, Behind the Wheel, Personal Jesus, Waiting for the Night.

ETA: Forgot Enjoy the Silence. D'oh!

Might be missing one. Not sure.

Peter Bjorn and John opened and were also a great band. And of COURSE I got a tee shirt. It's a little snug, but I hope it won't shrink. My voice is gone because I screamed practically the whole time. Can't sleep either, hyped on adrenaline so I'm waiting for it to burn up and for the eventual crash.

I think I'm in love with Martin Gore and want to have his Ziggy!Stardust!costume wearing babies.

I got talked into seeing Standing on Ceremony by Carrie (THANKS CARRIE) with Jason Alexander, Coco Peru, Zachary "FUCK YEAH" Quinto, and Timothy Olyphant and a bunch of other celebs in it at the El Portal in September. Tickets are still available and all the proceeds go to charity.

Finally changed my layout here. It is positively dapper!

ETA: Yay, New D.Grayman chapter! Boo! Next one comes out in November. I'm glad though. It's hard on Hoshino because of her health problems so going on a monthly serialization rather than a weekly serialization will be better for her.

Subject:Out on the Streets, They Call it Murder
Time:1:50 pm.
Mood: somber.
Hiroshima & Nagasaki : Instant casualties > 220,000 people instantly died, making a third of civilian Japanese deaths in the War
Later deaths: casualties > 90,000- 1,400,000 people by radiation/injury/other, including those who died before 1950, and grew larger over the years. Total unknown.

The number far dwarfs the amount of U.S. soldiers and civilians killed in the entire war (> 418,000) by at least double.

However, it is still far less than the total Chinese deaths of soldiers and civilians (10,000,000 to 20,000,000, probably greater). Total for Japanese deaths for soldiers and civilians over the war is > 2,700,000. Australian deaths: >41,800. Phillipino deaths: 557,000 to 1,057,000, possibly greater. Dutch East Indies: 3,030,000 to 4,030,000, possibly greater. French Indochina: 1,000,000 to 1,500,000, possibly greater. Korea: 378,000 to 533,000,000, probably greater. Singapore: >833,000. Et cetera. Et cetera.

People are more than just numbers. And that is only during the Pacific War (except for the U.S. statistics and perhaps the Australian ones), and not counting deaths after. I consider my paternal grandfather in those statistics because Iwo Jima literally drove him mad, deepened his alcoholism and abusive behavior, which led to his suicide in the 1970's. Remember.

Subject:HOLLA IF YOU ARE NOT THE WALKING DEAD PLZ
Time:8:17 pm.
Music:(REM) It's the End of the World as We Know It.
I'm just writing this to let everyone know I'm still alive. And to see who else is on the f-list has survived so far. IF YOU ARE ALIVE, PLEASE COMMENT SO I KNOW YOU AREN'T A ZOMBIE, OK?

It's really a good thing that I got out of the city when I did. They seem to have been hit by the zombie apocalypse the hardest. The media is calling it Z DAY but I think that's quite tasteless to put a spin on it and give it a catchy name. Out here, we have a bit more time to prepare. The closest cemetery is a little bit away, so we think they're concentrated there for now. We've seen a couple zombies eating a raccoon outside, but so far the end of the world has been quite boring here. Are animals supposed to rise when they've been bitten by the undead? I haven't heard anything on the news about that.

I don't even want to think about what it would like to be in China right now. The t.v. stations went out a little bit ago, but we have the radio on to NPR for the emergency broadcast.

I just keep thinking that I'm lucky to be alive and out of L.A. Well, for now. I..I just can't believe that we're all going to die.

Our pantry is pretty well stocked, but between the four of us and the animals, we don't know how long it'll last. We've been trying to decide if we'll just let the dog and the cat out to fend for themselves or keep them around for when we run short, but I don't think I can eat my dog.

We have a bunch of kitchen knives and some tools. My dad has some bullets for his gun, but he's lost the key to get the guard off the gun. I have my shinai and my boken and there's a metal bat someplace but I don't know where.

We're going to make a break for it sometime tonight to get to Canada. My brother and I have been watching zombie movies all day. I know it's in poor taste, but we're writing down tips. We dled the handbook online. What I wouldn't give for a machete or a flamethrower.

Here's hoping we all survive. Pray for us.

Send lipgloss.

ETA: I just heard they got Rick Warren and the whole congregation of Saddleback! OH GOD! THEY ARE CLOSER THAN WE THOUGHT! D:

ETA 2: 9:00 PM PST - Heard some scratching on the door about fifteen minutes ago. Scratching went on for five minutes then went away. We had dogs mouth taped shut earlier today, thinking she may bark and alert them to our presence, but she's mainly been whimpering and huddling near me like she's protecting me, eyeing the door. Poor puppy. I think there maybe more outside now...

And I just bought tickets to see Depeche Mode in August.

So, I discovered yesterday that a class I got an incomplete in and retook has the wrong grade down for it. A D. I should have an A. I'm in the middle of doing some hopscotch with my teacher trying to find his gradebook so we can go through the administration to get it all fixed.

This is a pain in the ass and I already have a lot of school associated anxiety issues.

((ETA: TAKEN CARE OF NAO. THANK THE GODS!))

Just so this post isn't such a downer, Have I ever mentioned that I <3 Gogol Bordello ? They make me happy.

Essential Vermeer is the most awesome website for anything you need to know about Dutch Painting in the 17th c. Oh, and Vermeer.

School started yesterday. I'm taking back to back, Monday and Wednesday, advanced life painting, watercolor, and concentrated life drawing. All my teachers seem to be amazing, but really demanding. Obviously, this is part of my secret plan to make myself go insane and or die from work exhaustion, but the load for the last class seems to be not as bad as I thought except for around midterm and finals. Other than that, I have a women and globalization course, so I think I'll be alright. Just don't expect to see me Monday or Wednesdays for the rest of the semester.

So I went to a Yule party last night and the subject of Stick People or Stick-Indians came up. Basically, American-Indian spirits, similliar to faeries in Irish tradition, who will whistle to lead people who are lost in the woods either deeper into the woods (if they are bad people or against the tribe)or lead them back through whistling. I've also read about them sabotaging construction equiptment before. They're found through the Cascade Mountains(Washington)and are part of Yakama Nation tradition.
